2001 Christmas Poem

Twas the night before Christmas, 2001
and the recounts in Florida still are not done
Some chads are still hanging on the ballots with care
While some of them fall on the floor and the chairs

Al Gore was nestled, all snug in his bed
While visions of the presidency danced in his head
With all of his lawsuits, he's not given up yet
He will continue this mess until HIS needs are met

The hand ballot counters, now numb to the core
Have begged for a break after count 94
More rapid than eagles, Gore lawyers they came
"You will not stop the count until Gore wins this game"!

"So back to the tables, hold those cards to the light
Keep counting and counting 'til our man wins this fight"!
Then all of a sudden there rose such a clatter
The people of America are now getting madder

"Please stop this Al Gore", the people began,
"Please stop this and accept your loss like a man"
But we heard him exclaim in a voice reeked with greed
"To hell with you all, I will NEVER concede"!
